Once upon a time, there lived an 8 year old girl named Emily. Emily was an extremely bright and curious child, who was constantly asking her parents and teachers deep questions about the world around her.
One day, while having dinner with her family, Emily asked her parents what “transperitoneally” meant. Her parents, who weren’t quite sure the exact definition of the word, simply said, “It’s a medical procedure, dear”.
This wasn’t enough for Emily and she quickly did an internet search for the word transperitoneally. What she found out was that it was a procedure during which a surgeon passed an instrument through the abdomen, from the back to the front, in order to access the abdominal cavity.
Emily was fascinated by this discovery and wanted to find out more about it. Feeling curious, she asked her parents if she could have a surgery using the transperitoneally method.
Her parents, naturally, were surprised by her question and asked her why she wanted to have the surgery. Emily explained that she wanted to explore the human body and experience the process of a medical surgery.
At first, her parents were reluctant to allow her to have the procedure, since it was quite a serious medical issue and they were concerned about her safety. But eventually, they decided to let Emily have the procedure, since they figured that it was better to let her explore her curiosity in a safe and supervised environment than to try and stop it.
So, the day of the surgery finally arrived and Emily went through the procedure. After the surgery was over, her parents asked her how she felt. Emily said that she didn’t feel any pain at all and that she felt like she had learnt so much from the experience.
The moral of the story is that it’s important to let children explore their curiosity in a safe and supervised environment. By letting Emily learn about transperitoneally, her parents showed her that it’s okay to be curious and to ask questions. This experience also helped Emily develop her knowledge of human anatomy and opened her eyes to the amazing world of medicine.
