Once upon a time, in a small-town in the middle of nowhere, there lived a young boy named Jack. Jack was an energetic, funny and imaginative child who loved playing with his friends.
One day Jack was playing in his front yard when he noticed a strange man walking down the street. He couldn’t help but be curious; he walked up to the man to say hello.
The man had to be in his sixties, and he looked tired, like he had been through a lot. Jack smiled at him and the man replied with a smile of his own.
Jack was intrigued, so he asked the man why he was in town and what he was doing. The man began to tell Jack about his condition, he was preterminal. Jack had never heard of it before, so he asked the man to explain what it was.
The man was very grateful that Jack was giving him the chance to explain and began to tell him about the illness. He said that it was an incurable disease that had no cure and that he was living his last days on Earth.
Jack was shocked, he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He asked if there was anything he could do to help, but the man said that there wasn’t. All he could do was enjoy every moment he had left, and live each day like it was his last. Jack was moved by the man’s words and he was determined to follow his advice.
He and the man said goodbye and Jack went home with a newfound appreciation for life. From that moment on, Jack made sure to spend every day creating memories and having fun with the people he loved. He wanted to make sure that no matter how short his life was, he had lived it to the fullest and left behind a lasting legacy.
The moral of the story is that no matter how short our lives may be, we must always make sure to enjoy every moment as if it were our last. Life is precious and shouldn’t be taken for granted.
