Once upon a time, there lived a little boy called Gumly. He was a lively, energetic and imaginative 8 year old, who loved exploring the outdoors and having adventures with his best friend, Tally.

Gumly was always the first one to grab his bike and dart off into the woods with Tally, playing pretend games and having the time of their lives. However, that changed when Gumly got a new skateboard. Suddenly, he wanted to spend all of his time at the skatepark, learning new tricks and showing off to his friends.

Tally was not happy about Gumly’s newfound obsession and made her feelings known. She felt like Gumly was neglecting their friendship, and it made her sad. One day, Gumly and Tally had an argument and the tension between them was palpable. Tally told Gumly that if he chose skateboarding over her, then it was time for them to end their friendship.

Heartbroken and confused, Gumly didn’t know what to do. He had worked so hard to learn all these tricks, yet it had cost him his best friend. He decided to spend one final day at the skatepark, making sure to remember all of the times he and Tally had had there. That’s when he realized what was really important – the connection he had with his best friend.

Gumly was determined to make it up to Tally, so he put together a little gift for her. He had saved all of the things he and Tally had found together in the woods and carefully wrapped them in a box. He wrote a note explaining that no matter what happened, their friendship was more important than any of the adventures they could have together.

When Tally saw the box, she knew that this was Gumly’s way of saying sorry. She felt touched by his gesture and accepted him back into their friendship. From that day forward, Gumly would still go to the skatepark and have fun with his friends but he also made sure to set aside time to enjoy the woods and be with his best friend.

The moral of this story is that hobbies and interests are important but they should never get in the way of the people we care about the most. Friendship is something that requires time and effort and it’s important to show our loved ones how much we appreciate them.
