Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Freckles who lived in a small town. Everyone in the town knew Freckles because of her distinct freckles, which covered her whole face.
Freckles was a kind, gentle soul who loved to help anyone in need. She was always the first to lend a helping hand, whether it be lending someone a handkerchief, offering to do their chores, or even giving a hug when someone was feeling down.
But because Freckles was different, the other children in town were often mean to her – calling her names like ‘Freckle Face’ or ‘Freckle Nose’.
Freckles never reacted to the teasing though. Deep down, she was determined to show everyone that despite her differences, she could be just like them.
One day Freckles was walking in the park when she noticed a little bird in a nearby tree. The little bird was caught in a thorn bush and seemed helpless and scared.
Freckles slowly made her way over to the bird, careful not to startle it, and tried to loosen the bird from the bush. After a few moments of gentle tugging and loosening the thorns, Freckles managed to set the little bird free.
The bird thanked Freckles with a few chirps and flew away.
Seeing the bird fly away made Freckles feel good inside. She had done something good for the world – something that no one else would have done.
Freckles smiled to herself and then continued on her way. As she walked, she noticed a group of kids pointing and laughing at her.
One of the boys stepped forward and said, “Hey, Freckle Face! Why don’t you come over here and do a trick for us!”
Freckles was about to ignore them and walk away, when suddenly she remembered the bird in the tree. The little bird was scared, but Freckles helped it anyway.
Suddenly, Freckles had an idea. She smiled and said, “Okay, I’ll do a trick – but only if you can do something to help the world too.”
The kids agreed, and the game began. Freckles and the kids took turns doing things that would help others. Freckles picked up garbage in the park, while the kids cleaned up a nearby stream.
At the end of the day, both Freckles and the kids felt good about what they had done. They had learned that even though they were different, they could still make a difference in the world if they worked together.
Moral of the story: We all have something to give and working together makes the world a better place.
