Once upon a time, there lived a little chick named Flunky. Flunky was a very lazy bird and he always wanted to take the easy way out of things.

One day, Flunky’s mama asked him to get some worms from the garden. Flunky was excited because he knew once he got the worms he would be able to eat them. So, he hopped out of the nest and went to the garden.

When he arrived at the garden, Flunky noticed that the dirt was hard and he would have to dig for the worms. But instead of digging for the worms, he decided to take the easy way out and started looking for some easy prey. After a few minutes, he spotted a small worm on the ground.

Flunky quickly grabbed the worm and hopped back to his nest with the worm. When he returned, his mama was waiting for him. She immediately noticed that the worm he had brought was too small for a meal and asked Flunky where he had found it.

Flunky sheepishly admitted that he had not dug for the worms, but had simply taken the easy way out by looking for an easy prey. His mama then said to him:

“My dear Flunky, always remember this; taking the easy way out might seem like a good idea but in the end you will not have achieved anything of worth. Hard work and dedication will always be rewarded in the end.”

Moral of the story: Hard work and dedication always pays off in the end.
